Privacy Policy
This page explains which personal data OnlineProxy.eu handles when you use it, why, for how long, and what your rights are under the EU General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR).
Who is responsible
OnlineProxy.eu is responsible for the data described here. You can reach us as described on the Contact page. The service runs on a server in France rented from OVH SAS (see the Legal notice).
How the proxy works
The pages you open are fetched through our server and rewritten in your own browser, so the website sees our server's address instead of yours. The connection between your browser and our server is encrypted. Connections to websites that use https stay encrypted all the way to that website; our server only passes them on and cannot read them.
What we log, and why
- Request log. Every connection made through the service is logged with the time, your IP address and the name of the website it goes to (for example www.youtube.com). The full address of every page you open (for example https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=…) is logged as well: the proxy in your browser reports it to our server, since with https the server itself cannot see it. We keep these logs to meet legal obligations to retain connection data and to answer requests from the authorities (GDPR Art. 6(1)(c)), and to investigate abuse of the service (Art. 6(1)(f)). They are kept for 365 days and then deleted.
- Classic version. The older version at classic.onlineproxy.eu fetches pages itself and logs the full address of every page it fetches. The same purposes and the same retention apply.
- Server access logs. Like every web server, ours records requests to this site itself (time, IP address, page, browser) to keep the service running and to deal with attacks (Art. 6(1)(f)). These are deleted after 14 days.
- Email. If you write to one of our addresses, your message (with your email address and anything you wrote) is kept on our server so we can answer it, and deleted once it is dealt with (Art. 6(1)(f)).
Only the operator can read these logs. They are handed out only where the law requires it, for example to a court or the police. We do not sell or share them otherwise, and we do not use them to build profiles.
We do not use analytics, advertising or tracking cookies, and we do not need an account or any other information from you.
What stays in your browser
Websites you visit through the proxy can set cookies and store data as usual. These are kept in your own browser, under this site's address, not on our server. To make pages load faster, your browser also keeps copies of pictures, fonts and scripts that the websites allow to be cached, for at most a week. Your choices on this site (light or dark mode, search engine, clean start) are stored in your browser too. All of this is needed for the service you asked for, and none of it is sent to us. You can delete it at any time with "Clear cookies and site data" in the menu, in Settings, or by clearing this site's data in your browser.
Who else is involved
Our server is hosted by OVH SAS in France, which provides the machine and its network connection on our behalf. Your data does not leave the EU through us. The websites you open through the proxy receive your requests as they would from any visitor (but from our server's address) and have their own privacy policies.
Your rights
You have the right to access the data we hold about you, to have it corrected or erased, to restrict or object to its use, and to receive it in a portable form (GDPR Art. 15–21), within the limits of our legal obligations to keep the request log. To use these rights, contact us as described on the Contact page and tell us your IP address and the time you used the service, since that is the only way to find your entries. You also have the right to complain to a data protection authority, for example the CNIL in France (cnil.fr) or the authority where you live.
